The Paisley Shawl - A very significant painting for the PAI!
Fra Newberry was a Paisley artist who travelled to Glasgow to work as director of the Art School. He and his wife Jessie Rowat ran it well. It was a prosperous time and the Glasgow style rose blossomed as people enjoyed new stylish patterns furnishing their homes. They commissioned Charles Rennie Mackintosh to design the new building which, sadly, has now suffered 2 fires.
The original painting can be seen, hanging in The Art Club now.
