I studied for my Degree in Fine Art (Drawing and Painting) during 1981 - ‘85 at Glasgow School of Art. My emphasis has always been on portraiture. I have drawn since I was 10 years old - I see drawing as the foundation for all art. When I became a mother, my painting stopped for a number of years, but not my drawing. The drawing I have entered is a 'portrait' of my friend Buffey and her grandmother JoseBella. Her grandmother escaped from the war in Italy and arrived in New York, starving, knowing no one and no English. She shared many stories with Buffey and I have tried to convey this in my drawing. Buffey holds her hand to comfort her during her passing and JoseBella hands over her stories.
