Shelagh Atkinson

Born in the late 1950’s Atkinson is a multi disciplinary artist exploring language, landscape and portraiture. Her work is rooted in a lifelong engagement with the social context of her subjects, and the felt force of the environment in which she inhabits. The portraiture work carry themes of connection and identity resonating throughout her practice. Atkinson makes prints, paintings and drawings. She works from her Edinburgh based WASPS studio. She has been recipient of a number of awards most recently The Paisley Arts institutes Karen Scopa memorial ward [2018] She has exhibited nationally and internationally.
