My name is Robert Thomas. I have dabbled in art from a young age, since semi retirement I have concentrated more on my drawing and keep a sketch pad going on a regular basis. I try to work and improve my artistic skills daily. I have a HNC in illustration from College of Building and Printing and a HNC in Fine Art from Langside College. I am a member of the Southern Art Club and the Pollockshields Art Group.
The piece I have chosen was inspired by a photograph of the River Clyde taken in the 1930s. I’ve used mixed media to create an atmospheric impression of shipping on the Clyde in this era when that river was an important maritime hub.
