I’m drawn to the places we love to visit on holiday, places that we like to romanticise about, places where we dream of living an idyllic life. The patchwork of collage and colours I use in my work are representative of the feelings I have for a place. The way my mind decorates somewhere with nostalgia, stories, memories and history. It is this feeling that I try to capture in my paintings.
This charcoal drawing is a study in tones, in how far I could push the limits of black and white in the composition design and capture the atmosphere of the evening harbour.
