A short time ago, in a galaxy not so far away…., is a fun piece based on a rock pool at Earlsferry in Fife. Things near and far both hold a wonder for my children, and I wanted to capture this enthusiasm. Currently I am working on ideas relating to memories of early familyhood incorporated with repeated images. Over the last year it has been the moments of being outside and connecting with nature which have been crucial in lifting spirits and having a sense of normality and I want to convey that feeling of connectedness in my drawings.
In 2019, after a break in practice due to starting a family, I received a Visual Artists Craft Makers Award (VACMA): Fife to develop a series of Etchings at the Fife Dunfermline Printmakers Workshop. In the workshop, I enjoy exploring different etching techniques and how this traditional form of practice can be used to convey personal memory and autobiography in art. I am interested in exploring the intersection of process and materials, motherhood, autobiography and landscape. My drawings over the last year will provide the basis for my etchings once the Print Workshop is open again.
Originally from Tillicoultry, I graduated from Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen in 2001. Since then, I worked initially from my WASPS studio for several years until moving to Dunfermline and setting up a studio there. I regularly exhibit throughout Scotland.
