Mike Wrennall

I have been carving for over 6 years since I retired from teaching in a local university. I make my sculptures in my garden where I spend many hours both designing and carving the pieces.

I am mainly self-taught but have attended workshops to improve my skills and techniques.

I am influenced by relief carvings in Egyptian, Scottish Celtic and Pictish art and design and by modern sculptors such as Picasso, Giacometti, Matisse and Modigliani, and in particular by their abstract and figurative heads.

I carve in both relief and 3D carvings.
