I love drawing. This stayed with me from school in Paisley to art college in Dundee and throughout a creative but very screen-based career in public sector graphic design. I now happily work as a full-time artist from my studio in the Barras in Glasgow.

I carry a sketchbook every day and take my inspiration from plein air ‘urban’ sketching – reportage drawings of people, activities and the cityscapes or landscapes around me. I’m particularly interested in architectural subjects and the scenes I capture, working mainly in ink and watercolour, are often off-beat or unexpected views of back lanes, rooftops, tenements and the overlooked corners of a city.
