Originally from Fife, I graduate from Edinburgh college of art as a mature student in 2011 and now work from my studio at WASPS, Patriothall, Edinburgh. I have exhibited in exhibitions and galleries throughout Scotland and am a member of both SSA and VAS. The paintings I have submitted illustrate my interpretation of landscape where I emphasise an area, object, or a line I have sketched, photographed or remembered. In this way, common perceptions of traditional landscape paintings are distorted and transformed by breaking the features within them into a simple shape or a block of flat or textured colour. Doing this often leads to a stronger focus on composition and brings an abstract quality to the painting.
