Jamie Retson

Hello, I’m Jamie, and I have always had a passion for art starting from when I one an award in primary school for the “Most Artistic” which was just a laminated certificate but it helped me realise how much I loved it. I worked hard on my art all through school and have recently found myself getting back into it. I work with charcoal, chalk and ink, in black white as I struggle with colour due to being colourblind! My first piece is to represent me and my mum, she has always loved elephants and I found this touching. I used coffee grounds to stain the back and make the black pop. My second is of a dairy cow, which was drawn as a gift for a friend of my dads, as they spend a lot of time on the dairy farm! I always try to capture the life of the animals that I draw.
