Hilary Law

In 1973 I graduated at Dundee dental college. I worked till 2009 in the NHS and at the Dundee Dental Hospital. During this time I attended several evening art classes and realised how much I enjoyed painting and drawing. Since I retired we moved to Aberfeldy area and I have been able to spend my time in my art studio painting and drawing. I paint with oil and acrylic but very much enjoy using pastels. I am interested in the texture and colours particularly associated with rust and during lockdown I’ve painted several rusty old locks. I have also tried to capture the beautiful scenery of the Loch Tay area. My entry is a pastel drawing of Old Lawers Village on the banks of Loch Tay. I used soft pastels on pastel mat paper
The village was first inhabited 1000 years ago and many prophecies have been made here by the Lady of Lawers. Most have come true. I feel there is magical atmosphere here and maybe it’s a home for fairies.
