I work in acrylic and oil paints to interpret my observations of the world around me, my relationship with the natural environment, humanity in general, with my home environment and family in particular. Being more and more aware that tweaks in technique can reduce my direct effect on the environment has brought about my style. The cost to the environment of human activity and its effect on the sea is obvious, particularly living on the coast. My paintings are not of where I live but about being in this place.
I love working with layers of expressive and calligraphic brush strokes and making marks with the painting knives, transferring the energies of life surrounding us here on the shore line.
