I'm an artist based in Argyll on the shores of Loch Awe and most of my work is inspired by the native woodlands of the west coast and the incredible diversity of it's coastal and inland waters. I'm a member of an artists' collective Artmap Argyll and take part in their annual Open Studios event over two weekends in August. In recent years I have exhibited at the RSW and PAI open exhibitions and show my work through commercial galleries on the west coast and in Edinburgh. The drawing I'm submitting Midwinter, Loch Awe is of a scene ten minutes from my studio when a light snowfall followed by a hard frost created a winter wonderland. It employs a technique of drawing into paint with scrapers to capture the texture and patterns of trees, grasses, reeds and rushes and this has been supplemented with pastel.
