Alistair Hackston
More than 40 years ago, I graduated from Glasgow School of Art (GSA) and then qualified into a professional career in New Town Development; Urban Planning and Regeneration; Historic Building restoration; and Countryside and Access management. Latterly I set up and ran a modest but busy Planning Consultancy.
I have been painting and drawing for most of those 40 years – much more consistently in the last 10 – and recently gave myself the gift of returning to GSA to take various Continuing Education Fine Art Day Courses over a four year series with four interesting but different tutors. I continue to add to my drawing skills by attending a weekly life drawing session.
I now paint and exhibit regularly using a wide range of media to explore the interest and colour of landscapes, towns and cities across the world, and to view the way in which people use and enjoy them and the objects in them. My paintings have recently been on exhibition in Glasgow Art Club; and at the 2013 Royal Glasgow Institute (RGI) exhibition, and for several years now, paintings have been housed in private collections across the country.
