Cloudy Bay, resin and oils on plywood from the ashblooms in the blackwater series

My new work at first was an outlet for the emotions I was feeling at the death of my dad. Choosing a medium, such as resin, allows one to work more freely and instinctively as you have to work quickly before the resin sets. The process of working in this way reflects the lack of control we all have in life and seizing upon the use of “happy accidents”. Not wishing to restrict the work to my personal history I am developing around the notions of ageing and our deterioration towards decrepitude. Drawing from this well allows me to work upon a larger canvas in which to achieve artwork with a stronger, more universal lexicon.
