Art for Ukraine – A Charity Auction – Sunday 8th May

In response to the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine, the Club has undertaken to stage a charity art auction to raise funds for humanitarian aid to support the victims of this conflict.  We are very pleased to be doing so in collaboration with the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain and the generous assistance of Exhibit Auctions.  Works donated by the Club’s artist members, Diplomate members of the Paisley Art Institute and other invited artists will be on display in the Club on the 3rd and 6th May.  The auction will be conducted both in the Club and online at the same time by Natasha Raskin Sharp on Sunday 8th May, doors will open at 12 midday,  the auction will commence at 2pm.  Teas, coffees and light refreshments will be available in the Club prior to the auction’s commencement.

The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain
The Association are coordinating shipments of aid with their compatriots in Ukraine while also making preparations for refugees coming to UK.  Recent and current activities include the regular dispatch of heavy goods vehicles from UK to either the Polish border or Ukraine itself at a cost of £2,600 per journey carrying a variety of goods ranging from basic medicines, toiletries, shoes and clothing to specialist medical equipment and hospital beds.  Cargos are being sourced and donated in accordance with the priorities being relayed from Ukraine.
The association is also amassing caches of supplies and coordinating support services for refugees arriving in the UK with no more than the suitcases that they were able to travel with.
As the situation on the ground changes so do aid and refugee support priorities, the Association will be able to ensure that the funds raised by the auction are channeled to best effect.  Meanwhile anyone wishing to make a separate financial contribution can do so here –
On Sunday 8th May, which happens to be Ukrainian Mothers Day, we will be very pleased to welcome the Association’s Edinburgh branch Chairman, Hannah Beaton-Hawryluk, who has kindly offered to open the auction.

Exhibit Auctions
An auction catalogue will be made available online by Natasha’s contemporary art auction platform (Exhibit Auctions), allowing all the artworks to be viewed digitally from 25th April onwards whilst also being available to view physically in the Club’s main downstairs gallery on the 3rd and 6th of May.
Bids will be able to be lodged in advance both online and also on bidding slips that will be available in the Club for anyone viewing the hung works on the 3rd and 6th of May.
On the 8th of May, bidders will be able to participate either in the Club or online in real time; the auction will be broadcast via Exhibit Auctions to anyone who is unable to attend in person.
Natasha has been conducting fine art and charity auctions for over a decade and is already certain that Art For Ukraine will rank highly among her career highlights.  She has very generously opted to conduct the auction with zero auction fees so as to maximise the charitable donation.  We hope you will consider supporting this initiative and share this notification with any interested friends or other family members.
Meanwhile we will email you again when the auction catalogue becomes available with a link to the catalogue through which there will be an option to register for the auction.
