Iain Anderson - Artist Member

I graduated from the Mackintosh School of Architecture in 1973.

In 2020, having retired as an architect, I rekindled my interest in painting. Since then I have been taking regular tuition lessons and have enjoyed many ‘plein air’ painting weeks in France and Spain.

My paintings have been exhibited in local galleries. In Kirkintilloch’s Auld Kirk museum I was recipient this year of the Jack Lucas memorial award. At the 2025 PAI Exhibition in the Glasgow Art Club I was fortunate to be recipient of the ‘ VP Eslyn Barr ' PAI award. I have also over the past 3 years donated my paintings to the annual Beatson Cancer Charity exhibition/auction.

At the end of the COVID pandemic I became a volunteer painting tutor within the Cross-Reach Organisation, through their Heart for Art programme by assisting people with dementia, and I remain committed to this painting therapy. My ethos as a former architect and designer is no different from now as an aspiring artist, I endeavour to continually stretch boundaries, explore new techniques and create a sense of mood and movement.
