Hockey, in my early teens was a sport that I loathed, resulting in me asking my father if I could be excused from the Saturday morning on the hockey pitch.

To my surprise, he said yes, ‘but you are not staying at home’, and he enrolled me in Saturday morning classes at the GSA, where I stayed for 3 years, sewing the seed of my love of art ever since. (He was always sketching and watercolour painting on family holidays)

I married and had 2 girls, whom we brought up whilst I worked full time as a midwife, and as my husband built his business. Art took a ‘backseat’ for quite a few years. 25 years ago, I took up the paintbrush again, attending various classes, which I manage to fit in around my tennis, golf, curling and looking after my grandchildren.

Last year I joined Helensburgh Art Club, which I thoroughly enjoy.
