“My work is rooted in the Scottish painterly tradition, (reflecting my time at GSA in the late 1960s). In my work I hope to convey a personal response to my subject in terms of colour, light, space and form within the distinctive characteristics of oil paint, often in still life studies featuring flowers, collected objects and photographs in the studio. I also have a strong interest in portraiture and attend life drawing classes when I can ”.

From Coatbridge, Lanarkshire
Graduated from Glasgow School of Art D.A. (Drawing and Painting), 1971
Teaching certificate from Jordanhill College, Glasgow, 1972
Taught art in Lanarkshire, Inverness, and Sutherland till 2001
Professional artist since leaving teaching in 2001
