Lynne Johnstone - Artist Member
Having been a pupil of well known Scottish artist, Davy Brown at school, Lynne's love of painting was born and in 2000; with her family becoming more independent, she was able to devote more time and enthusiasm to art and painting, and gave up work to study HND Art & Design at Ayr College.
While studying, her environmental art project was commissioned by South Ayrshire Council to promote Environment week in 2002. Further study included classes in painting by Michael Clark and Joan Lawson of Robinwood Art School. Lynne now teaches art therapy to hospice patients in Ayrshire and continues to paint full time at her studio in Alloway. She is an established member of Ayr Sketch Club.
Her passion is strong vibrant colours and she cites the Scottish Colourists and Cézanne as an early influence.
Lynne's paintings are built up in multiple layers of colour and texture to express the mood and dynamics of her subject. She continues to paint and develop her creative style, using mostly acrylics and mixed media. Her recent floral still lifes and harbour scenes show her increasing use of the palette knife, collage and rollers to create a more textural image.
