I’m a Glasgow-based artist and graduate of the Glasgow School of Art. My work focuses on the complexities of human experience, especially the tension between our public and private selves. Through my paintings, I capture quiet, often overlooked moments that reveal layers of emotion and identity beneath the surface. I work primarily in oil paint, creating textured, layered compositions. By incorporating historical references and symbolic props, I aim to connect the past with the present, giving my work a timeless, open-ended quality. Items like antique swim caps or paper crowns create a sense of ambiguity, encouraging viewers to look beyond time and place.
My process is intuitive and guided by my interactions with each subject. I draw inspiration from literature, film, and daily life, aiming to show not only what my subjects look like but who they are. My work has received recognition, including the Turtington Award at the National Art Open, the City of Glasgow Award at the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, and the Tom Urwin Special Fine Art Award at the Society of Women Artists. Through my art, I hope to create space for reflection and connection.
