Drawing and painting has absorbed me from childhood and through my schooldays.

I have trained in drawing and painting and life drawing from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in the later 1960's, to Dundee College, Leith School of Art, Edinburgh drawing school, and Damian Callan's life painting workshops in Edinburgh Wasps studios, and many other workshops, to the present day.

My interests still lie in drawing and painting the figure and in portraiture; sketching with watercolour and other mediums in the outdoors; drawing old buildings and structures; and particularly working in oils/ ink/pastel and conte, in the landscape.

I was brought up in both the countryside and by the seaside in Fife, and also spent many years coaching a wide range of outdoor pursuits to children and adults, in all weathers. Working 'en plein air' comes naturally to me, and many days have been spent in the hills or the forests, by rivers or coast, trying to capture, on paper and canvas, the unexpected, the mood and atmosphere of the environment generated by many varied weather conditions.
